RAC organises dress designing exhibition

An exhibition of dress designing showcasing the work of students of Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) attracted a huge gathering here on Wednesday.

The wife of the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, Madam Midori Inomata, flanked by members, Punjab Assembly, Raja Hanif, Advocate Lubna Rehan Pirzada, Tehseen Fawad, RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed and former director RAC Naheed Manzoor inaugurated the exhibition.

Over 150 dresses prepared by promising 15 students of RAC fashion designing course have been displayed in the exhibition. The students used techniques of fabric painting, silk painting, screen painting and stitching techniques in their work, under the supervision of Maryam Rani.

Addressing the gathering, Madam Midori Inomata said that she was really impressed by the talent and skills shown by the young girls.

Madam Midori Inomata was off the view that Pakistani women have a very important part to play in building Pakistan’s future. She said Japan would continue to contribute to bringing about a better life to the women of Pakistan.

Naheed Manzoor said the exhibition of fashion designing students would boost their confidence and encourage them to pursue their courses with more attention and diligence.

RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed, speaking on the occasion, said besides imparting fashion designing training to its students the council has provided them an opportunity to introduce their work to the people.

The participants of the exhibition were Sania Fatima, Zuha Arshad, Sana Waheed, Bareeha Salman, Sundus Qureshi, Shaista Amber, Asifa Nazir, Asma, Mehmoona, Asima, Zill-e-Huma, Sadia, Sadaf Javed, Maryam Saeed and Nishaat.
