Slaman directs health officers to enhance performance on WB-funded projects

A seven-member delegation of World Bank headed by its team leader Dr Tayyib Masood called on Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique and Secretary Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday.

Secretary Primary and Health Department Ali Jan Khan, Director General Health Dr Amjad Shehzad, Director Policy and Strategic Planning Unit (PSPU) Ali Bahadur Qazi, Additional Director Dr. Zahida Sarwar, Additional Director General Health Integrated, Reproductive, Mother, Newborn and Child Health (IRMNCH) Health Programme Dr Pervaiz Imtiaz, Director Internal Audit Health Department Sarfraz Ahmed, Dr Yadullah and other officers concerned attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed the progress on IRMNCH, Lady Health Workers Programme, Punjab HIV/AIDS Control Programme and other initiatives.

The World Bank team discussed in detail regarding evolving a strategy for accelerating ongoing progress on health sector reforms and to remove bottlenecks in this regard. The meeting discussed expansion of hospitals waste management system to other districts, establishment of management cadre, establishment of complaint management system for redressal of patients’ grievances, revamping and redesigning of schools health nutrition programmes. The meeting also discussed the progress in establishment of stabilisation centres for seriously malnourished children.

Salman Rafique and Health Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah directed the officers concerned to further accelerate the progress on the ongoing health sectors programmes sponsored by World Bank so that people of Punjab could get maximum benefit from these reforms in health sector. The meeting appreciated the cooperation of World Bank for Punjab Health Sector Reforms. PSPU Director Ali Bahadur Qazi gave a detailed presentation to the World Bank team regarding various developmental programmes in health sector.
