The Punjab police purchased minor stationery items worth over Rs 40 million, revealed an audit report.

According to the report, the police officials purchased ink and pencils worth over Rs 40 million for the registration of cases and did not seek any permission from high-ups of the department.

The report further says that stationery items were not provided to police stations by the department, but millions of rupees were released from national exchequer in the name of stationery items.
