Officials in Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry have stated that mutual memorandum of understanding on transit between Afghanistan Pakistan has expired, but Pakistan still benefits from the MoU signed by the two countries, Afghan state run media reported.

They said that if Afghanistan didn’t utilise the APTA memorandum of understanding, Pakistan shouldn’t benefit from it either.

”APTA memorandum of understanding has expired, but Pakistan is still using that route and its goods are reaching Central Asia,” said Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry official Khan Jan Alkozai.

APTA was signed between Afghanistan and Pakistan in 2010. Per the MoU, Pakistan could use Afghanistan’s soil for transiting its goods to Central Asia. However, Afghan officials claim that the Pakistani side creates problems for Afghans traders transiting goods to Wahga dry port to get into India.

”We informed Pakistan about the issue two months ago,” Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industry spokesman Musafir Qoqandi said, and added, “If Pakistan doesn’t resolve the Afghan businessmen’s problems, the memorandum of understanding doesn’t mean anything.”

Afghanistan can block CIS route and Pakistan can divert through China, and they can live without access to Karachi, stop playing games Afghanistan, dont try to pressure us to change policy vizaviz India, you need to mind your own business and stock to Karachi Kabul route.
