Two police personnel deployed on the security duties of polio teams have been injured in the firing by unknown assailants on teams in Gujranwala.
The polio teams were busy in administering polio drops to children on Sialkot road, Gujranwala, when unknown assailants started firing at the polio teams. As a result, two police personnel deployed on the security duty were injured in the incident.
The injured personnel were rushed to local hospital.
The police cordoned off the area and started search for the culprits. However, no arrests have been made till the filing of this report.
Moreover, no polio workers were injured in the incident.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has condemned the attack on polio teams and directed to provide best possible medical treatment to injured personnel. Shahbaz directed the law enforcing agencies to arrest the culprits involved in the incident.
