Saira Tarar for responsible journalism

State Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar on Monday stressed the need for responsible journalism by avoiding sensationalism.

Administering oath to newly-elected office-bearers of the Hafizabad Press Club, she said that reporters should be more careful while filing their stories. She said the government welcomed positive criticism and added that journalists should work for resolving the problems of masses.

She assured that the district would also be included in the National Health Programme. She also assured to resolve the problems being faced by the local people.

She said the country had overcome numerous problems during the past few years and added that the present government would steer the country out of prevailing crises. She also assured that efforts would be made for providing housing colony for the local journalists.

She congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the club and hoped that they would continue their efforts for the betterment of journalist community and uplift of the area.

Earlier, newly elected chairman Imtiaz Ahmad Taj thanked the minister and DCO for providing funds for the renovation of press club and hoped that they would continue to cooperate in providing more funds to the press club.

Prominent among those who also addressed the function included MPA Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan, DCO Muhammad Usman and Rashed Amin Hijazi, a Lahore-based journalist hailing from Hafizabad.

The minister administered oath to newly elected Chairman Imtiaz Ahmad Taj, Senior Vice President Hafiz Muhammad Aziz ur Rehman, Vice Chairman Sh Muhammad Zahid, General Secretary Mazhar Hussain Warraich, Joint Secretary Irfan Nemat, Finance Secretary Ahmad Nawaz Rattu, Office Secretary Gulzar Hussain Chohan and Information Secretary Sajid Abbas Awan.
