Islamabad police seek more time to vacate CPO building

Islamabad Police have submitted request with Ministry of Interior for granting more time to vacate the building of Central Police Office (CPO) housing the offices of IGP, DIG and AIGs.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sought the intervention of Interior Ministry to convince the police high ups for vacating building in residential area (sector F-7) where CPO Islamabad is situated.

The CDA has formally submitted this request with Ministry of Interior after futile efforts with law enforcement department in convincing them to vacate this building. CDA sources said that any office or building can be sealed for non-conforming use and around 65 commercial outlets operating in residential areas have been sealed.

Police source said that a fine amounting Rs. 5,00,000 has been imposed by CDA for not vacating this building. To a question about shifting police offices in sector G-11/4, he said that there has been lack of fund to complete this project. “Once funds are provided, it would take six months to complete the building at new under-construction site in sector G-11/4,” he maintained.
