A local court Friday sent eight accused involved in a gang-rape case to jail on 14-days judicial remand.

Earlier, Race Course police presented all eight accused including Mian Umar Yasin, Qamar Zaman, Ameer Muhammad, Bilawal Mir, Haris Aslam, Abdul Majid, Imran Shahid and Adnan Sana Ullah before Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Yousaf Abdul Rehman in cantt court.

The police apprised the court that it had completed investigations from the accused and their further physical remand was not required.

At this, the court ordered to send all accused to jail on 14-day judicial remand and directed police to submit charge-sheet as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the police also produced the accused except Adnan Sana Ullah before Judicial Magistrate Sift Ullah and sought seven days physical remand for investigation in another case.

However, the counsel for accused opposed the request and contended that the police had registered baseless case against his clients.

At this, the court rejected request for physical remand and sent the accused to jail on judicial remand.

Race Course police had registered cases against the accused who allegedly raped a class-8 student in a guest house on The Mall.
