Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan along with other leaders of PTI met Saudi Ambassador for Pakistan Abdullah Marzouk Al-Zahrani here Friday.

According to the details, Imran Khan called for de-escalation of tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia in the wake of execution of Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr and mob attacks on Saudi missions in Tehran and Mashhad. Imran Khan will meet with Iranian ambassador as well. Former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Naeem ul Haq and Shahzad Wasim were also present on this occasion.

Imran Khan on Friday has demanded the government to subject participation in Saudi Arabia’s 34-country alliance against terrorism in discussion in the Parliament.

He criticised the government for not deeming it appropriate to discuss the issue in the Parliament, while talking to the media at the Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Khan said that he is criticised for not going to the Parliament, why should he attend sessions when fate of different important matters is decided outside.

He said that participation in Saudi alliance is not a trivial matter, the country is already enduring aftermath of alliance with United States (US).

While talking about Pakistan Rangers’ extension in special powers in Karachi, PTI chairman said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have joined hands against Rangers to protect corrupt persons and armed wings.

The people of Sindh on one hand are favouring targeted operation led by Rangers while on the other, political parties are trying to cripple the special powers. Certain elements are using pressure in name of ‘democracy’ to tie Rangers’ hands.

The PTI chairman also said that the party would take part in the General Elections 2018 with full swing. PTI would not tolerate rigging in the General Elections like the local body (LB) polls, he added.

The opposition party leader said that a new approach that is aimed at lessening poverty by boosting trade with India is required. However, he said that the impoverished should be uplifted without avoiding talks over Kashmir dispute.
