Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Thursday said sports activities benefitted the youth not only in physical health but also in development of a healthy mind.
He was talking to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Hanif Abbasi, who called on him here.
Hanif Abbasi presented the minister a shield of recently concluded Chief Minister T20 Cricket Premier League 2015-16 inter-union councils competition held in Rawalpindi. The tournament was dedicated to the martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar.
The Information Minister said sports not only brought positive energy but also inculcated virtues of discipline, self- reliance, self esteem and sportsman spirit. Holding of such tournaments would play a vital role in youth development and provide them positive entertainment.
He said the present democratic government was committed to promote sports in the country as it helped individuals build character and allow them to learn the skills of team work, leadership and facing defeat after a healthy competition.
