Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday asked the government to clear its policy about mounting tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran and take the Parliament into confidence in this regard.
Talking to media outside the Parliament House, Qureshi said that Pakistan should not take sides in the conflict. Why did the government join the Saudi led 34-state alliance against Islamic State, without knowing the details, he questioned.
He said Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz read out a piece of paper recently in the House on the issue, which did not show clear stance of the government. The same statement was given by the FO previously.
He said that if the government considered the matter sensitive, then it should immediately convene an in-camera session of the NA standing committee on foreign affairs to discuss the issue.
