The national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines has refused to pay the bill for refreshments offered to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his surprise visit to Lahore last month, a private television reported on Thursday.
Reportedly, the PIA refused to pay a Rs 210,000 bill it was sent by the caterer, who had prepared special meals for the foreign dignitary. The PIA said it was not the responsibility of the national flag carrier, and remarked the bill must be forwarded to the Foreign Ministry.
Modi broke with diplomatic protocol to pay a surprise visit to Premier Nawaz Sharif on December 25.
The Pakistani premier, along with his cabinet ministers, had received Modi on the tarmac where military officers lined up along a red carpet.
