The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) Regional Office Sargodha finally launched a crackdown on consumers using compressors to enhance the gas pressure.
SNGPL Regional Manager Alla-ul-Din Khan while talking to APP on Thursday said the operation had been launched against consumers who were depriving their neighbouring houses of the possible share of gas by drawing in additional volumes through the compressors.
He added gas pressure remained low after the upgradation of system as the load was enhanced from 20 million cubic feet to 30 million cubic feet but shockingly the pressure remained low in various areas due to the illegal usage of gas compressors, he added.
He said various raids had been conducted against the compressor users whereas FIRs had also been got registered in police stations. He explained that compressors were dangerous as whenever there was a rise in the gas pressure and the compressor was still in operation, the input pressure of the device rose to a very high level.
The device was not designed to be compatible to such a pressure which increased the chances of accidents, he added.
