The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday formed a larger bench for hearing petitions filed against the ban on houbara bustard’s hunting.

The pleas have been filed by the federation and all the provinces, seeking to review SC decision of banning the bird’s hunting in the country.|

The larger bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Saqib Nisar, Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman, Justice Umar Atta Bandial and Justice Qazi Faiz Esa, will start hearing of the cases on Wednesday.

The SC, in its 18 August 2015 verdict, had effectively put a ban on the hunting of the bird. The federal and provincial governments had submitted several applications for its review.
