At least five terrorists of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) were killed in exchange of fire with police on Wednesday.
SSP Malir Rao Anwar said that police, responding to a tip-off regarding presence of elements involved in suspicious activities, conducted search operation near Indus Plaza in Sohrab Goth locality of Karachi.
On seeing the police, the suspects who took shelter in the locality started fire which led to an encounter. In cross fire, five terrorists of TTP involved in attacks on police and Rangers were killed.
The terrorist have holed up in Sohrab Goth graveyard with cache of weapons from where they used to conduct terror activities. Meanwhile, police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested four men linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Defense Housing Authority (DHA), Phase 1, Karachi.
On a tip-off, a police party conducted a raid at the DHA area in Phase-1 and arrested four banned TTP men identified as Zahid Hussain, Hanif, Ashraf Ali, and Rehmat Shah. The police also claimed to have recovered suicide jackets, four pistols, ball bearings, and explosive material from their possession.
Further investigation was underway, the police said. Karachi-South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Jamil Ahmed said the arrests were made during an operation in the area.
