A worker was killed while 32 others injured after a massive explosion completely destroyed a factory on Sheikhpura Road in Gujranwala on Wednesday.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the explosion occurred due to gas leakage.
Rescue officials told media that there were more than 50 workers present inside the factory when the sad incident occurred. Witnesses said that several workers were trapped under the rubble.
Rescue teams arrived at the site and pulled out the trapped people from the debris of the collapsed factory.
The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals. Doctors said most of the people suffered serious burns and 15 of them are in critical condition.
The factory and vehicles parked outside were also destroyed in the boiler explosion.
In November last year, a four-storey Rajput Polyester polythene bag factory in Lahore collapsed, killing more than 40 people.
