Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Joint Secretary Alamgir Khan has launched a campaign against the ‘sleeping beauties’ to highlight the problems faced by common citizens in Karachi.

“I have launched a campaign against the ‘sleeping beauties’ in Karachi. I will try to highlight every single problematic thing faced by Aam Aadmi (common man) of Karachi. And definitely I alone can’t make it. I urge all young Karachiites to join me in this cause,” he said in a message posted on social media.

“Potholed roads, unkempt sidewalks, garbage-strewn streets and clogged drains are common in the metropolis due to faulty and inefficient policing of the provincial government,” he said.

The basic aim of the movement was to push the Sindh government to come out of deep slumber and do its job, he clarified.

Khan accompanied by a team of supporters painted Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah‘s face on roads to bring attention to unattended issues around the city under the “sleeping beauty – please wake up” campaign. “Eat it! As poor children do,” said one of the signs near a pile of garbage on a street corner. On the other hand, the Sindh government has made no comment on the campaign yet.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah took notice of disappearing gutter caps in the city and directed the city administrator to fix the issue within two days.

The chief minister telephoned the city administrator and expressed his displeasure over lack of solution to civic problems.

According to reports, he furiously asked the administrator, “Will the chief minister now fix the gutter caps?” He directed the administrator to identify spots where gutter caps were missing and cover them.
