India is disturbed over Sri Lanka’s move to buy JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan instead of purchasing jets from Russia as per her (Indian) desire.

Sri Lankan media reported on Tuesday that the country had shown interest in purchase of Pakistan-China collaboration, JF-17 Thunder aircraft.

JF-17 Thunder is cheaper than United States (US) fighter jets. Resultantly, Sri Lanka is desirous of buying seven jets from Pakistan. Sri Lanka will be the first country to purchase JF-17s from Pakistan. Authorities said that the order would be ready by the end of 2017.

Earlier, the aircraft’s developers, Aviation Industry Corp of China and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, signed a contract with a buyer on the sidelines of Dubai airshow. About 1,100 exhibitors from more than 60 countries had participated in the airshow.

On December 28, 2015, Spokesperson for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) said that Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) has achieved its annual production goal.

In a statement, the spokesperson said that authorities have decided to increase aeronautical complex’s production capabilities.

The complex has handed over 16th JF-17 Thunder aircraft to the air force in the ongoing year.
