FIA Crime Report Circle Deputy Director Kamran Attaullah on Tuesday denied all the allegations levelled by Akeel Karim Dhedhi and said that blaming FIA investigation officers was baseless and wrong.

“We do not take any action on the directives of unrelated persons,” he said while addressing a press conference held to counter allegations by business tycoon Aqeel Karim Dhedhi who had said in a press conference on Monday that the arrest of his three employees was a conspiracy hatched by high placed officials against him.

The FIA deputy director further said that the case was initiated in 2010, but it could not be finalised due to problems in obtaining records from CDC, SECP, EOBI, AMTEX, APCAM and AKD Securities.

He said that in this case, various departments were involved and they had examined their records. He said that Dhedhi was taking the case personally. The role performed by Dhedhi in this case was as a facilitator. He said that it is normal practice that the officers submit their reports, then they examine them and later, they take further action, if required.

FIA Commercial Banking Circle Additional Director Altaf Hussain said that the case was in the court and that they would accept whatever verdict the bench handed down. He said that they had arrested three accused namely EOBI Chairman Zafar Iqbal Gondal, AKD Group CEO Mohammad Fareed Alam and Director Tariq Alam Gumra.

Talking to the news agency, FIA Inspector Siraj Panhwar said that all the accused were in their custody as they had obtained their remand from the court. He said that raids had been conducted for arresting the remaining 19 accused involved in the case.
