The execution of prominent Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr and other 46 in Saudi Arabia have created distressful situations all around the Muslim world. They were executed over allegations of involvement in shooting police and increasing sectarian anger in the region. It is not the bona fide case behind the execution of 47 people but it is the proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Resultantly, Iran and the people of its allies from Pakistan, Lebanon and Iraq have strongly condemned over the execution of the cleric. Moreover, the Prime Minister of Iraq and the Foreign Minister of Iran have also criticised Saudi Arabia over the execution of the cleric. Furthermore, they did not blame only on Saudi Arabia for supporting terrorist movements and extremism but also accused Washington being responsible for its long-standing alliance with Riyadh.

The prosecution of Nimr al-Nimr has created sentimental environment all around the Muslim world. Many people from different states protested against the execution. Moreover, people of different countries are being used by Saudi Arabia and Iran on sectarian basis so that they can achieve their goals. Both are trying to create their hegemony over the regions but they have forgotten that we are Muslims first. The Prophet (PBUH) said, “When a Muslim sees his brothers fighting he must make peace between them.” The Muslim Ummah should carry the message of our Prophet (PBUH) and unite together to encourage each other rather increasing sectarian conflicts.

The proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran is more damaging for the Muslims world than any outsider. If it continues, the Muslim world will be devastated. One should keep in mind that peace and cooperation cannot be achieved unless we stop trying being pro-Saudi Arabia or pro-Iran, we should instead become united Muslims.
