The other side of VIP culture

Much is being written these days against VIP culture in Pakistan since we face miserable condition on the roads and public places whenever there is VIP movement. On the other hand, it is also interesting and encouraging to note that VIP culture is slowly diminishing in Pakistan. In this connection I would like to quote just one recent example. I travelled by Pakistan International Airlines flight number PK 304 on 2 January, 2016, from Karachi to Lahore. The flight was fully packed. I noticed some very important people were on board on this flight. Just to name a few VIPs on this flight were Jahangir Khan, the squash great, Moin Khan, our great former wicket keeper, Shoaib Mohammad, a known cricketer, Eshrat-ul-Ebad Khan, the sitting governor Sindh.

These VIPs came in the plane like ordinary passengers with humility like me and the rest. Throughout the entire flight none of these VIPs did anything to gesture that they were VIPs. Some of them were sitting on the boarding lounge at Karachi Airport like ordinary people. None of the passengers were bothered by these VIPs on the flight. I once saw at Karachi Airport our great cricket Zaheer Abbas and singer Nayyara Noor with her spouse having smiles and patience on their faces waiting for their luggage at the conveyer belt along with hundreds of other passengers. I am sure a lot of our VIPs are very kind and full of humility. Therefore, it is the duty of media to highlight good behaviour and humility of those VIPs which will have a very positive impact on our society.
