Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghanni Saturday said that scholarships would be provided to orphan students who enrolled in BS program in government colleges, serious steps are being taken to upgrade the standard of government colleges into model colleges and all demands and needs in this connection would be fulfilled.
Speaking as a chief guest in the first convocation of Government postgraduate college Mansehra, he said the convocation is a special day in the academic calendar of any institution; it marks the culmination of a phase of learning.
Students have to be an important part of the nation building process through their respective capabilities that they have acquired in their institution, he added.
The minister said, that a women’s lap is a child’s first institution, the government is putting in every effort to counter the menace of terrorism, education is the key element to combat it through talented women, who are a multiplication influential factor in moulding their child’s future.
He emphasised the provincial government is fully committed to bring positive change in all sector and remarkable steps have been taken for the development and prosperity of the province.
“We have assured a merit based system as the core value for the development of our institution, the educational institutions and universities of the province are being strengthened to conduct cutting edge research on issues faced by our society and in this regard the solutions provided by such research must be cost effective and sustainable”, he added.
Ghanni congratulated the students and hoped that the college would continue with its pursuit of uplifting the standards of education and producing healthy, academically sound and vibrant citizens to the society.
At the end he distributed degree certificates and gold medals among the students. He also announced to construct the auditorium and girls hostel in the premises of this college.
