At least four dacoits on Sunday entered a house in Gujranwala and held the members of the household hostage.
Police surrounded the house and exchange of fire took place. The police have sought backup from the Police Line.
Reportedly, at least four dacoits entered a house in Khyali Station’s Faisal Colony area to rob the house and the police was alerted of the crime minutes later.
A heavy contingent of the police reached on the spot and surrounded the house. The dacoits held the members of the household hostage.
The family living in the house had only moved in five days ago.
The police also used teargas shells and have evacuated surrounding houses while taking their positions on top of buildings.
