CPEC will benefit all cities of country: report

Ministry of Planning and Development on Sunday said that no part of the country would remain deprived of the benefits of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to a report quoting sources in the Planning Ministry, CPEC envisages connecting Pakistani ports with Western China and it will be constructed mutually by Pakistan and China to ensure sustainable development.

The significant nodal cities in the two countries agreed so far under CPEC include Kashi, Taxkorgan, Khunjrab, Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Sukkur, Quetta, Karachi and Gwadar, while other nodes may be added to the Corridor in future.

There are forty-seven more cities that may get connected via road and rail networks, planned for the corridor under various routes.

The total estimated cost for CPEC and related projects during the current financial year is about Rs 150 billion.
