Parliamentary Committee on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Chairman Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed on Thursday assured that concerns and reservations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding the Corridor would be taken up in the parliament for proper addressal.
Addressing a joint press conference along with KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak at the CM House, the senator said that everyone concerned must join hands for accomplishment of the project, which would bring development and progress in the country, in greater interest of the nation.
Mushahid termed CPEC a fortune-changer and said that its significance demands our unity irrespective of political affiliations. He said that concerns of all the stakeholders would be taken up with related quarters including the prime minister.
He said that the Parliamentary Committee had been mandated to implement the decisions on the corridor according to the aspirations of the provinces, adding that his visit aimed to achieve the said objective. However, the matter demands our joint efforts and consensus, he maintained.
He said that the CPEC Media Forum had been launched to enhance role of media relating to the project. He said that foundation of a Special Security Division had also been laid for the security of the Corridor.
The meeting was attended by Speaker Provincial Assembly Assad Qaisar, ANP’s Karim Babak, PPPP’s Nighat Orakzai and JI’s Inayat Ullah among others.
