Lahore rape case: Court grants three-day time for gang rape victim to record statement

Mall Road gang-rape victim on Thursday excused herself from recording statement while court has extended physical remands of eight arrested persons for three days.

Police presented class-8 victimised student and key culprit Adnan Sanaullah among eight persons before the court to get their statements recorded.

Rana Town’s resident plaintiff’s counsel told the magistrate that his client is severely traumatized and could not record her statement. He asked the court to grant time for three days.

Investigation officer requested the court to extend alleged culprits’ remands by three days.

The court entertained investigation officer’s plea and granted extension while ordered to file DNA test reports of the accused in the next hearing.

A 15-year-old girl was kidnapped and then allegedly intoxicated and raped by as many as eight persons in a guest house on Mall Road on December 25.

The victim was shifted to a hospital where the medics confirmed sexual assault.

The eight suspects including the key person Adnan Sanaullah nominated in the FIR of the case were arrested on immediate basis by the police as the government took notice of the incident and directed police to nab the culprits as soon as possible.

They were later sent on a three-day physical remand by the court for interrogation.
