Admiral Zakaullah lauds successful completion of operational objectives

Pakistan Navy Fleet Command Annual Efficiency Competition Parade and Awards Ceremony 2015 was held at PN Dockyard on Thursday. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah graced the occasion as chief guest.

The efficiency competition parade is conducted annually by the Pakistan Navy Fleet Command to mark the culmination of its operational year in which efficiency shields are awarded to selected fleet units based on their overall performance throughout the year.

While addressing the officers and men, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah commended Pakistan Navy Fleet on successful accomplishment of operational objectives in a befitting manner. He emphasised that an efficient and strong Navy was vital for protection of Pakistan’s maritime sovereignty and interests. He expressed his complete satisfaction over the professional competence and performance of Pakistan Navy Fleet. He especially commended the contribution of fleet units in evacuating stranded Pakistani and foreign nationals from war-affected Yemen earlier this year.

The naval chief further said that successful operation undertaken by Pakistan Navy Fleet units demonstrated extended reach of Pakistan Navy which was not only recognised at national but also at international level. While outlining Pakistan Navy’s endeavours, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah said Pakistan Navy was effectively contributing towards government’s policy of promoting peace and stability in the region through continuous participation in coalition maritime campaign plan and counter piracy deployments in North Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden. At the same time, Pakistan Navy remains fully prepared to safeguard the country’s sea frontiers under the challenging internal and external security environments.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Syed Arifullah Hussaini gave an account of the operational achievements of Pakistan Navy Fleet during the year 2015. He said besides successful conduct of Major Maritime Exercise SEASPARK-15 and other operational activities, PN Fleet units actively participated in various multinational as well as bilateral exercises and operational deployments during the year 2015.

Later, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah gave away prizes to units adjudged best in their respective squadrons during the year 2015. The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior serving and retired naval officers and personnel of Pakistan Navy.
