Rangers recover 2,000 bullets, arrest political party official

The law enforcement agencies in a special raid on Tuesday recovered 2,000 bullets buried deep in the ground by criminals in Lines Area.

According to details, Rangers raided the Lines Area on the identification of already arrested suspects and dug up the ground and recovered bullets of sub-machine gun (SMG), 8mm pistol and G-3 assault rifle.

Rangers also apprehended four suspects including a criminal belonging to a political party. Meanwhile, the security men arrested a criminal in wounded condition after an alleged encounter at Eidgah. Police said the arrested suspect belonged to Lyari Gangwar.

The law enforcement agencies also conducted an operation at Jamshed Road and held an official of a political party while two terrorists were held from Korangi and Landhi areas.

Sources said the criminals had contacts with Al-Qaeda and also worked for Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. Both the criminals were also involved in target killings of more than 10 policemen.

Separately, in Karachi’s Defence area, Rangers apprehended two militants and weapons including two hand grenades and a stolen motorcycle were also recovered from their possession.

The senior police official stated that the Karachi operation was launched by the government which was brining positive outcomes as dozens of extortionists, target killers and terrorists had been held so far.
