Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Tuesday that there was no suggestion under consideration to impose governor rule in Sindh and the issue of the Rangers special powers would be addressed politically.

“We are political people and do not want confrontation,” the minister said while talking to a TV channel. “It is Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s right to raise objections, which would also be addressed politically,” he added.

He said that the Karachi operation would continue till the achievements of all the set targets, including complete restoration of peace in the metropolis. “Peace in Karachi is linked to peace in the country,” he said.

Replying to a question, the minister said that terrorism and corruption were inter-linked and both should be treated similarly.

The law enforcement agencies, he said, were rendering sacrifices in the Karachi operation and their achievements could not be reversed.
