Police on Monday filed an interim challan with an anti-terrorism court (ATC) against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Waseem AKhter for inciting violence through his hate speech.
Officials of the Superhighway police station produced the interim challan before sitting ATC administrative judge Hasan Azhar Rizvi. In the challan, the accused has been declared as absconder under Section 512 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) despite his publicly movements.
The judge however directed the police officials to submit the final challan within 15 days.
A case had been registered against Waseem AKhter, a nominee for Karachi mayor, for violating the Telegraph Act and spreading anarchy, on the complaint of a citizen.
The complainant had submitted that Akhther had incited violence and harmed the national interests through his remarks in a talk show aired on a private news channel.
Earlier, ATC had issued non-boilable arrest warrants for MQM chief Altaf Hussain as well as Waseem Akhter, Farooq Sattar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Rehan Hashmi, Rashid Godil, Khawaja Izharul Hasan for delivering and facilitating hate speeches against the military and other national security agencies.
Wasim Akhtar has a great contribution towards deteriorating L&O situation in Karachi. It started back when he was Adviser in the Provincial Interior Ministry. He recruited hundreds of MQM men in the Karachi police force and placed them in strategic positions who used to sent photo copies of Official documents, FIRs etc to 90, particularly where MQM terrorists were involved. They still are working as MQM informers. Besides, he got issued thousands of Arms Licences to MQM workers and hijacked a large amount of confiscated arms and ammunition from the Police Malkhanas. He is one of the biggest supporters and sponsors of MQM target killers and Bhatta Khors.
