Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak on Monday handed over keys of 50 vehicles to the administration of various boys and girls colleges of the province and granted cheques of scholarships worth Rs. 100 million to 315 scholars of MPhil and PhD under the Faculty Development Programme in a ceremony held in Peshawar.

CM’s Special Assistant for Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Secretary Higher Education, Dr. Attaur Rahman and a large number of other officers were also present on the occasion. The CM also announced a grant of 100 more vehicles to various colleges of the province in the current financial year. Moreover, he said that the 1300 vacant posts in the education department would be filled with immediate effect.

Addressing the ceremony, the CM said that his government was trying to devise a comprehensive system which would address all dimensions of the educational institutions adding that teachers wouldn’t get transferred and their promotions would also take place, according to the collective performance of schools and colleges.

Khattak said that every district of the province would have a university so that the people of far flung areas could have access to higher education.

Describing the education sector as top most priority of his government Khattak said that the youth were a national asset and their bright future could only be ensured with quality education instead of establishing multi storied buildings or roads. Adding that his government was taking radical steps to end the obsolete class based education system.

The CM said the PTI government has come into power with the agenda of change which would be translated into reality by dint of sincere efforts. He said his government has brought meaningful changes in education and health sectors. Police and Patwar system have been reformed. Commission and corruption culture has been changed. Police can no longer force anyone to extract illegal gratification from anyone.

Khattak expressed regrets saying that in the past, the rulers have used the government servants for their personal benefits which affected the institutions. His government, he said has ended all such practices and now the government institutions were busy in service of the common man instead of pleasing the rulers. He said that there was no dearth of competent and honest people in the country. It was however due to the rampant corruption that has blocked the competent people from coming to the front.

The CM said that his government has brought tremendous improvement in the schools which was very visible.

  1. Most of students in Pk don't have a good transport facility to go to the schools/college/university. I must say that's good step taken by the provincial Govt of Pk. These vehicles should be maintained well. writing literature reviews
