At a time when the whole nation, or at least half of it, is bending over backwards eulogising the legacy of Benazir Bhutto, we must not forget her legacy which is pushing the country towards a water-less future. The once biggest irrigation network of the world is in danger of becoming the biggest food importing network of the world.
What can one say about a person who started off by opposing Kalabagh dam merely because it was Zia’s dam, then wanted to build it when it became her dam, but again opposed it when it became Nawaz’s dam?
Not for a minute did it cross her mind what her topsy-turvy behaviour would do to the poor people of the country whose champion she professed to be.
