An accountability court on Monday handed over three officers of the Federal Employees Government Housing Foundation (FEGHF) to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on three-day physical remand for their alleged involvement in China-cutting, a term used in reference to illegal sale and occupation of government land.

NAB presented three officials of FEGHF, Director Shafiq Shehzad, Deputy Director Muhammad Ali and Assisant Director Faridud-Din before the judge Nisar Baig of the accountability court.

NAB told the court that the three were involved in designing fake maps and transferring land on bogus documents. NAB is still estimating the total loss caused to the national exchequer as a result of the suspects’ activities.

NAB requested 14-day physical remand of the officials.

Expressing annoyance over not being presented the record of the case, Judge Nisar Baig asked how many statements of witnesses had been recorded.

In response, the NAB prosecutor said that the statements of witnesses had been recorded but that they were left in the office.

The judge ordered the NAB prosecutor to present the record of the case in one hour. NAB complied with the order and submitted the record. Subsequently, the judge handed over the three officials to NAB and adjourned the hearing till December 31.

  1. Not quite. China Cutting traveled from Islamabad to Karachi after a 'friend of AAZ' occupied large areas around Islamabad to build the Malik/Zardari Empire. Then to Lahore and now again to Karachi. It was mentioned in the press (secretly though) that AAZ visits the Residence of Malik Riaz during the night – without protocol.
