PML-N uniting the nation against terrorism: Pervaiz Rashid

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Sunday that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) had evolved consensus against terrorism and united all political parties to root out this menace from the country.

Talking to a private news channel he said that National Action Plan (NAP) was an appreciable step. Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah had recently accepted that 70 to 80 per cent success against terrorism was made possible due to NAP. He said that the international community was also supportive of the Plan.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari as well as Pervez Musharraf failed to formulate such a plan, he said, and added that credit went to PML-N for formulating it.

Rashid said the parliamentary system was working in the country to monitor NAP and the government’s performance.

He said that if Bilawal Bhutto Zardari knew the name of any supporters of ‘Daesh’ present in Islamabad, he should speak out.

Responding to a question he said that it had still not been proved as to who was behind the killings in Model Town Lahore.

He said that PML-N was given the responsibility to form a government for the third time and added that bloodshed was not the party’s culture.

He said that NAP had restored peace in Karachi. The menace of terrorism started in the country in the year 2000 during the tenure of Pervez Musharraf, he said.

He said Pervez Musharraf should have taken steps to cope with the threat of terrorism in the country.

He said that the PPP government also did not pay attention to devising any plan to eliminate terrorism. However, when the PML-N government took over, it immediately started making efforts for strengthening the economy, and eradicating terrorism.

He said that now the terrorists were being caught and brought to justice.

The information minister said that some of the PPP leaders had their own axe to grind and had decided to air their grievances on the occasion of the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto.
