Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Muhammad Amir reportedly broke down into tears in a face to face meeting with Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali.
Former Pakistan T20 captain Mohammad Hafeez and current ODI captain Azhar Ali refused to join the camp because of Amir’s presence.
Both players had reservations over Amir’s presence, who according to them have hurt the reputation of the country before.
The meeting took place on Friday evening, where Amir, who felt that there was un-necessary tension in the camp because of his presence, asked for forgiveness, and even volunteered to leave the camp to avoid any further damage to the Pakistan cricket.
“It was a very emotional moment because Amir was aware there was a lot of tension in the camp because of him and at the meeting he broke down in tears,” a source in the camp told Press Trust of India.
“He said he was sorry for what had happened and again apologised to everyone at the meeting.
“He then said if anyone felt he didn’t deserve a second chance he would leave the camp straightaway, as he didn’t want any more damage caused to the spirit and unity of Pakistan cricket.
“Hafeez also got emotional and hugged him and said everything was forgiven.”
Both players later met the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan on Saturday morning and joined the training camp for the New Zealand tour which is taking place at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
Unreliable Amir should not be joined in team unless he undertakes to not to misconduct .
Great development if true. The guy has served his punishment and admitted his wrongs, but some people want to attach a label with him and make him an outcast. This is condemnable. Give him a second chance, he was a silly kid and made a mistake at that time. Everyone deserves a second chance, on top of that he is immensely talented and a bowler like him is needed in the team. I would like to welcome him with open arms and a clean heart.
Open arms and clean heart??? The matter must be settled according to Shariah law in light of Quran and Sunnah. Why Pakistan criminal justice system and mulana Sherani of CII have taken up this matter before. Pakistan is an islamic republic and should act act like one. Sharia should be implemented on Aamir with open arms and clean heart.
