Today’s Pakistan

Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah saw Pakistan as a modern day democratic social welfare state taking inspiration from the model of Medina. Equal opportunity for all citizens, freedom of expression, religion and ownership would be the hallmarks of this state envisioned by Quaid. Today every politician in the country will bestow praise on him and wow to uphold his principles. But these are empty words devoid of any will to act on because if there was a will, the country would have not been in such bad social, economic and political mess.

It is in pursuit of this ideal that I joined PTI to participate in politics. But PTI changed course after September 2011 and became PTI-Q which is nothing but another name for a status quo party where political elites took the cover of change to engage in same old politics of exploitation and control of masses. Now to achieve the ideal of Quaid our first efforts should be to reform our party to bring it back to its ideological orientation and convert it into an institution where every person from any social, religious or ethnic background is offered a level playing field to rise through the ranks and serve the nation. Once we achieve this transformation in the party, only then we will be qualified to work towards transforming the nation.
