Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain is set to put the icing on the cake with a £1million New Year payday.

The star baker is to fulfil a long-held dream of publishing her own recipe

book and has signed a big-money deal ¬with a prestigious cookery publisher.

Previous winners of the hit BBC1 show have seen their titles shoot to the top of the sales chart, and insiders expect Nadiya’s to do the same.

A source said: “Cookbooks are some of the biggest sellers in the book charts. Nadiya could earn up to £1million through her first offering. Her commercial potential is huge.

“First comes a recipe book, then food endorsements and deals with big brands. The opportunities are endless.”

Nadiya, 30, said: “I’m so excited to be following in great cookery footsteps with the Michael Joseph team at Penguin Random House.

“My dream of having my own cookery book is becoming a reality and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

For the past decade the mum of three has put aside her ambitions while she concentrated on raising her family.

But thanks to the Great British Bake Off, her book will hit the shelves in June.

Lindsey Evans, from Michael Joseph, said: “I was definitely not alone in cheering Nadiya on to win the final of this year’s Bake Off – or indeed the only one to shed a tear alongside her.

“She brings a sense of joy and wonderment to the kitchen, which is apparent in everything she creates.”

According to sources, the book will include recipes such as goat’s cheese and black pepper puffs, and feta and dill savoury muffins.
