Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that his party welcomes the proceeding on talks between Pakistan and India but the Parliament should be taken into confidence prior to initiating dialogues.

In an interview here on Sunday, Fazl said that resolution of long-standing Kashmir dispute and other bilateral issues between Pakistan and India was vital for peace and stability in the region and dialogues were the best possible way to resolve the irritants. He said that JUI-F has always supported dialogues between Pakistan and India but talks should be held on level playing field.

However, he warned that dialogues initiated only on desires and conditions from Indian side were not acceptable at all.

The JUI-F chief said that the Parliament being the supreme national institution should be taken into confidence prior to making any decision regarding dialogues with India and all stakeholders should be consulted to settle the agenda of bilateral talks.

He also stressed on the need of keeping Kashmir issue on top in the agenda for bilateral dialogues and said without resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with aspirations of Kashmiri people and UN resolution, no talks can succeed and dreams of restoration of peace and stability in the region could not be materialised.
