No arrests have yet been made in the Baldia Town factory fire incident although millions have been spent by the Sindh government on investigations over three years since the industrial accident.

Reportedly, the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the incident has failed to make any progress to unearth whether the fire at the factory was deliberate or accidental.

According to sources, the committee has sent its final report containing the statements of factory owners Aziz, Shahid, Arshad Bhaila and others to important government functionaries. Besides, this report also contains the forensic report of the fire incident.

Even though the report has been forwarded to the authorities, neither a meeting of the JIT has been scheduled nor have the higher officials indicated any signs of suspects’ detention.

It may be mentioned that the main suspects in the case had fled the country after the incident.

Earlier, the JIT went to Dubai on October 4, 2015 where the factory owners told it the reasons behind the fire eruption and informed it about their concerns and threats posed to their lives.

The JIT is composed of DIG Admin Sultan Khawaja, DIG East Munir Sheikh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pir Muhammad Shah, Sajid Sadozai and other officials of law enforcement agencies.
