17 killed, dozens injured in Punjab road accidents

 

At least 17 people, including women, were killed and dozens of others injured in separate road accidents across Punjab on Saturday.

According to details, four people, including a minor girl, were killed and 20 others wounded when a Lahore-bound passenger coach coming from Sadiqabad overturned near Town Plaza in Ahmadpur Sharqia area of Bahawalpur district.

Five people, including two women, were killed when a recklessly-driven passenger bus hit a stationary car near Deputywala Interchange on Sargodha Road in Faisalabad.

At Lora Road in Murree, a van carrying people to attend a funeral procession skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine, resulting in deaths of four women and leaving three others wounded.

Meanwhile, four people were killed and seven others injured in separate road mishaps in Chishtian, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Sahiwal.

The bodies and injured were shifted to different hospitals of respective areas for medico-legal formalities and treatment. More casualties were feared as according to hospital sources, several of the wounded people were in serious condition.
