The prime minister took three days off from work to host the wedding of his grandchild, the daughter of his heir-apparent Maryam Nawaz.
Credit where it is due: in a country with a serious culture of excess and opulence when it comes to weddings, one that financially cripples the middle and working classes, the Sharifs neither attend wedding functions nor invite people to their own family’s weddings.
It was a private affair, where all the cultural ceremonies took place, albeit only to be attended by the family.
On the other hand, the groom’s family, Chaudhry Munir, the UAE tycoon, had no such qualms. They are set to have a grand bash at a farmhouse.

Reham Khan’s former husband, the one who will never be prime minister, is in Pakistan. No, I’m talking about the other one who will never be prime minister, her first husband, Dr Ijaz Khan.
Apparently, tired of all the mud that his former wife has slung at him, he is going about talking to TV channels, asking to be interviewed for his side of the story to be heard out.
Maybe he should also start a show.
Reham Khan is farce.
