The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Election Commission to hold local government elections in more than eighty Union Councils (UCs) in eleven districts of Sindh.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed heard ECP’s appeal against the decision by the Sindh High Court.

The ECP had filed an appeal against the SHC verdict regarding the delimitations of disputed UCs.

During the case hearing, the ECP lawyer told the apex court that fresh delimitations of disputed UCs have been carried out on the high court’s order, and polling will be conducted by December 30.

The court disposed of the ECP’s appeal, terming it ineffective and allowed the commission to hold elections in more than 80 UCs of Sindh.
