Islamabad – Our Angry Khan Correspondent: Speaking to reporters from his estate in Bani Gala, Islamabad, PTI Chairman Imran Khan told reporters yesterday that his clear and specific threat to the Sillo clan members who were not selling their land to him at a throwaway price was being taken out of context by the news media.
“It is indeed shameful of the media to sensationalise an honest-to-God threat of grave consequences,” he said. “I hate such tabloid journalism.”
He urged the reporters to tell their brethren in the newsrooms that the leader of a political party threatening people in his district of serious repercussions whenever his party gets into power would not have even been repeated had it not been a slow news day otherwise.
“I had only made a casual reference to Section IV, Land Acquisition Act, 1894,” he continued. “Very casual and off-the-cuff.”
“I would urge the media not to be unfair to Imran Khan. He was only joking,” said Dr Sagheer Hassan of the political science department at the Quaid-e-Azam University. “Any sentence involving the words ‘when the PTI comes into power’ is a joke.”
