Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in the provincial metropolis today (Thursday), 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The Milad celebrations will be in full swing right from Fajr with special prayers in mosques and Mahafil all across the province.
Conferences and meetings on Seerat-un-Nabi will be held in every nook and corner of the city where speakers will highlight various aspects of `Uswa-e-Hasna’, the sacred life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Main procession of Milad will be taken out from Lahore Railway Station under the aegis of Central Event Committee for Jashn-e-Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) at 9AM. The Committee’s President Alhaaj Malik Aftab Rabbani will lead the main procession.
Prior to the procession, a Seerat Conference will be held, with prominent political and social personalities as guests.
The procession, after passing through its traditional route of Railway Station, Australia Chowk, Brandreth Road, Gowal Mandi, Mayo Hospital, Abback Road, Anarkali, Mori Darwaza and Bhatti, will culminate at Data Darbar. The route of the procession has already been decorated profusely with buntings and banners besides setting up welcome stages at 120 different points on the route. Rose-petals will also be showered on the participants of the procession and the conference through an airplane.
Public and private buildings, markets, houses, roads and streets have also been decorated.
Various other Milad processions will join the main processions at different points along the route.
Special prayers will be offered for unity of Muslim Ummah and progress and prosperity of Pakistan on this occasion.
The City District Government Lahore will make elaborate arrangements to supply drinking water to the participants of the procession, besides providing them other gifts and edibles.
Medical camps will be set up to facilitate the participants of the procession. Rescue 1122 Emergency Service, Bomb Disposal Squad, Fire Brigade, Civil Defence and Police personnel will remain alert to deal with any untoward incident.
Mosques, shrines, government buildings and other public places will also be decorated on the auspicious occasion.
Meanwhile, provincial government has also made foolproof security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) to ensure peace and tranquility throughout the province.
All Range DIGs and DPOs will remain on duty to monitor security arrangements on this occasion.
The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has launched a special cleanliness drive to remove solid waste from the routes of Milad processions.
