Chief Minister Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday paid a surprise visit to the site of the ongoing Orange Line Train project without any protocol in Lahore.
The chief minister inspected the development work on the project from Gujran to Samanabad and lauded the efforts of engineers and laborers.
Shehbaz Sharif also met with the administrative employees and said that the project would provide modern transport facilities to the nation.
Some of the supporters chanted slogans in the chief minister’s favour on the occasion.
The project will cost $1.6 billion and will be completed within 27 months. The train route will be 27.1 km long, spread from Ali Town to Thokar Niaz Baig, from Multan Road to Scheme Mor, Chowburji, MAO College, Mall Road, Laxmi Chowk and Railway Station, from Garhi Shahu Bridge to GT Road and UET and from Pakistan Mint to Dera Gojran.
The chief minister said on the occasion that Orange Line Train is the common man’s ride as it will move through places that are mostly inhabited by people with low incomes.
