The anti-car lifting cell Karachi in raids in Korangi and Malir arrested two suspects for their involvement in a robbery at the Edhi Home in Kharadar last year, local media quoting sources reported on Wednesday.

They were found in possession of five kg of gold. ACLC SSP Irfan Ali Bahadur said some of the suspects had been arrested earlier but the main culprit, Umair Shah, had escaped to Dubai.

He added that police were tipped off that Shah had returned to Karachi from Dubai a few days ago and was living in a house in Korangi.

During interrogation, Shah said, he along with his associates, had committed the robbery at the Edhi Home. He further disclosed that before leaving for Dubai, he had left the gold he had robbed with his friend, Jaam Akhtar, who lived in Malir. When he ran out of the looted money in his possession, he returned to the city.

The SSP said police conducted a raid in Malir and arrested Akhtar. He was found in possession of five kg of gold.
