A National Accountability Bureau (NAB’s) investigation team reached Islamabad on Wednesday to probe the corruption case against the former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain.

According to details, the team held meetings with higher authorities of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Sui Southern and Northern.

The investigation team also questioned about the drilling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) well and gas sale.

It is reported that OGRA did not issued any license regarding the above-mentioned points.

Besides being accused of treating terrorists and target killers in his hospital on the request of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) members, he is also accused of permitting the drilling and selling of LPG.

Earlier, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent Dr Asim to jail on judicial remand, granted until December 30.

Dr Asim’s wife was not allowed to enter the court premises. The accused will be presented before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on December 23.

However, the court stated Dr Asim would remain in NAB’s custody for the money laundering case until his physical remand expires.

Dr Asim pleaded the court to not hand him over to NAB; however, the court said that whatever happened to him is in the past. He could be sent to jail instead, it added.

The ATC on December 21 rejected Sindh Police’s report, which declared the accused innocent and freed him of all charges.

  1. The role of Sind Police in Dr Asim's case has put a big question mark on the credibility of the force. So far the Police authorities have not said a word about the matter. It is only the Sind Assembly which is lead by an ex-body-guard of Mr 10% and misled by an ex-Law Minister in action. The whole PPP has become involved in the conflict including the Leader of Opposition in the NA. Hopefully, the Karachi Operation is not suspended in this war of Elephants.
