Like other parts of the world, Christmas preparations are in full swing in the city also, and people can be seen buying decorative items and gifts for their loved ones.

The sale of gift items, decorated trees, candles and bells was observed in most parts of the city. Christmas trees were being sold at anywhere between Rs 500 and Rs 3,000, depending on the size of the tree.

Massive rush was observed in markets and shopping centres near Gillwala and other localities with sizeable Christian populations. Many of them visited the markets to buy new cloths, gifts and other items for Christmas.

A bazaar was also set up by City District Government near Catholic School Sargodha in order to facilitate the Christian community with subsidised items.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the bazaar, Commissioner Sargodha Muhammad Asif said that the administration had been utilising all its resources to provide maximum relief to the Christian community on Christmas.

The commissioner also cut a Christmas cake on the occasion along with the Christian community at Saint Francis Church and celebrated the event with them.

The commissioner further revealed that the administration had set up six Christmas bazaars in Sargodha. He said that the stalls at these bazaars were providing food items such as chicken, mutton, sugar, flour, fruits and vegetables etc at subsidised rates significantly lower than the open market.

Other Christmas bazaars are set up at Noori gate, Bagh e Jinnah, Jinnah Colony, Istaklalabad, Marium Colony, Babu Muhallah and Christian Colony near Eid Gah road.
