CDA chairman says writers of ‘unreasonable’ report on katchi abadis will be punished

Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday informed the Senate Committee of the rules of procedure and privileges that a report will be submitted to the secretary committee soon about what actions have been taken against those involved in submitting the unreasonable report to the Supreme Court regarding Katchi Abadis in the federal capital.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Jehanzeb Jamaldini here at the Parliament House on Wednesday. The matter of unreasonable remarks by CDA regarding Christian community in a report submitted by the authority in SC was referred by chairman senate to the privileges committee and the committee is to submit a report in house coming Monday.

The committee accepted the written apology of chairman CDA but at the same time observed that the mindset which is responsible for these remarks has to be countered and eliminated. Chairman CDA assured the committee that strict action will be taken against the concerned officers and a proper inquiry will take place. He also told the committee that the legal department which is responsible for reviewing every report before it is sent has also been reshuffled after the incident.

The committee observed that it has to be efficiently monitored whether the mistake was intentional or unintentional. The committee deferred the matter of the privilege breach of chairman senate during his visit to Lahore by Captain Liaqat, SP security. The matter of codification of privileges was also deferred due to uncertainty of its merits and demerits.
