RS 7.2m given for families of 36 victims of Sundar factory

The Boards of Management of Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) and Sundar Industrial Estate (SIE) as well as the industrialists have distributed compensation cheques worth Rs7.2 million amongst the families of 36 victims of a factory plot no 93 collapsed at Sunder Industrial Estate.

Family of each ill-fated victim received a cheque worth Rs200,000 on Tuesday in a ceremony organised by the SIE management. Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar and Chairman PIEDMC SM Tanveer attended the cheque distribution ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, PIEDMC Chairman SM Tanveer said no compensation can be a substitution of human life but still the PIEDMC and SIE management as well as the industrialists have made an effort to share the grief and miseries of the families of victims.

He also appreciated the rescue operations under the supervision of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, saying that he had led the rescue efforts from the front. Raja Ashfaq Sarwar appreciated the members of PIEDMC and SIE boards of management as well as the industrialists at SIE in overcoming the crisis situation and helping the families of victims, financially.

“The industrialist community has always been on the front foot in helping generously to their countrymen in the need of hour,” he added. He extended special thank to the philanthropists on behalf of the chief minister. He said the Punjab government has always been supportive to the industrial workers and has been making utmost efforts for the welfare of labourers as a whole.
